Reds Apple E-Liquid Review
"Do you like apples?" I never really understood that part of Matt Damon and Ben Affleck's 1997 drama Good Will Hunting. Maybe it was because it was the set up for "Well, how do you like them apples?" a phrase I wasn't even slightly familiar with.
Or maybe it was because the question "Do you like apples?" was so strange to me. As far as I was concerned, everyone loved apples: Braeburns, Jazz apples, even the humble Granny Smith. And now, I've got a few new beloved apples to add to the list because of 7 Daze's Reds Apple E-Juice.
7 Daze are a premium e-liquid manufacturer from California. They've been operating since 2014 and have a solid global reputation as a trustworthy and credible company.
I've read that their founding members are composed of respected engineers in the food and vapour industries that came together to form this company. They use pharmaceutical-grade ingredients for their e-liquid flavours and have a reputation for quality products and exacting safety standards and compliance.
I tried out a few of their Reds Apple Nic Salt range. These e-liquids are all primarily apple flavours but come in various ranges like Original, Apple, or apple-based varieties like Apple Mango or Apple Berry. Also, each one I tried also has an iced version which adds a little menthol throat hit.
Reds Apple Nic Salt E-liquids come in 10ml bottles, with concentrations of either 10mg or 20mg. Like most nic salts, they are 50% VG / 50% PG.
I tested these nic salts in a Caliburn G at 10mg strength.
This Original Apple e-juice is a crisp, fresh blend of apple. Apple flavour e-liquids can be a curious thing because of how many different types of apple there are. Which one do you pick? Well, Reds Apple Original has gone outside the box by producing the refreshingly light taste of apple juice.
Many apple juices are slightly sour or occasionally taste like syrup, but if this were a drinking juice, it would be the crisp, fresh juice from a red apple. Perfect as an everyday vape, I strongly like and recommend this juice.
Recommended for: People who like fruit vapes, but nothing too sweet.
Apple Original Iced
This is the Iced version of the Apple Original reviewed above. On the one hand, yes, this is like Apple Original, but with added menthol. But on the other, it gives it a different angle.
I spent a great deal of time with these juices, swapping out pods and comparing them side by side, and the idea with these Iced versions is that if Apple Original is a glass of apple juice, then this version is a glass with ice.
And yes, I think I buy that. The apple is solid and distinct, and the menthol adds just enough coolness to remind you of an ice-frosted glass of apple juice on a summer afternoon.
Recommended For: Again, anyone who likes fruit flavours but craves the throat sensation of menthol or cool mint.
Apple Berries continues the theme of a red apple base, but this time combined with various berries. These berries are blueberry, raspberry and pomegranate. Medleys of different berries can be hard to pick out when combined, and they have a tendency to become one vague berry taste. But I think I can pick these three out in this e-liquid.
The apple is definitely at the forefront, but blueberry is represented in a faintly sour taste on the exhale. The raspberries add a slightly tart dimension that balances out the juice. The pomegranate works similarly to the raspberries because of its somewhat sour and acid taste.
Overall, this juice is really pleasant, with the crisp freshness of the apples undercut by a slightly acidic or sour berry taste.
Recommended For: People who like a fruit vape but with a slight edge.
Apple Berries Iced
I was interested to see what the menthol would do for a flavour that was already a pretty complex mix of sweet and sour fruit. I think this works because the menthol doesn't get in the way but appears more like a sensation on the exhale rather than on top of the fruit.
This is a great flavour that takes you in a lot of different directions.
Recommended for: Anyone who likes menthol with a touch of fruity sourness
Mango is another flavour that most manufacturers struggle to replicate satisfactorily. It's a highly complex taste with several different dimensions. I hoped that this could be a little like the Cawston Press Apple & Mango juice, and you know what? They've gotten pretty close.
Mango flavour, for me, is fruity but slightly creamy. Additionally, it has a touch of pine, which makes it kind of herbal with a faint perfume taste, a little like a car air freshener. So, a bit like a peach, but spicier, I'd say. That's pretty complex to recreate in a lab, and generally, e-liquids fall short of this but get somewhere kind of close or — more commonly — create a new mango-like type of flavour.
But this one is as good as I've tasted. The familiar apple flavour on the inhale, but a creamy and slightly floral and citrus tropical taste on the exhale.
Recommended For: If you like fruit vapes with a touch of cream and a hint of citrus.
Apple Mango Iced
This juice adds a touch of menthol to the Apple Mango flavour above, which subtly modulates the flavour profile. It's cooler on the inhale, giving it an added smoothness and bringing out a hint of vanilla. Maybe this is intentional, or maybe not, but I could definitely taste it.
Again, the menthol is not overpowering on this juice, but it's just present enough to add a degree of softness to the exhale.
Recommended For: If you like fruit flavours with a slight menthol kick.
7 Daze are a serious company with some exciting flavours. I enjoy the idea of an apple base from which you can spin off in different directions. Alongside the flavours in this review, they also have Watermelon, Peach, Strawberry, and Grape flavoured juices, all mixed with their fresh, crisp apple.
These are some of the best fruit flavours I've tasted on the vape market. Highly recommended!
