Best Vape Kits for 100% VG E-Liquids in 2024
Because 100% VG E-Liquids are thicker in viscosity than most other juices, you’ll need to ensure you’ve got a compatible vape kit to use them. We’ve hand-picked the best vape kits for 100% VG E-Liquids which we’re certain will provide an excellent overall vaping experience.
So, you want to use a PG-Free vape juice. Trouble is that your starter pod kit won’t cut it—it simply doesn’t have enough power.
What next?
Fear not: our list of the best vape kits for 100% VG E-Liquids will help you find the perfect hardware to pair with your new juice.
What are 100% VG E-Liquids?
Just as it sounds, 100% VG E-Liquids are made using only Vegetable Glycerine (VG) and are completely free of Propylene Glycol (PG). As these E-Liquids don’t contain any PG, they’re usually thicker than most other juices and require specific hardware to function properly.
Because they’re such a niche vape product, most vape kits aren’t designed to handle them, so iIt can be difficult to find a good vape kit to pair them with.
For more information on 100% VG E-Liquids, including who should use them and their pros and cons, check out our guide to 100% VG E-Liquids.
We’re going to list a few recommendations below of the best vape kits for 100% VG E-Liquids.
Do I need an MTL or a DTL vape kit?
To use 100% VG E-Liquids, you’ll need a DTL vape kit, and you’ll need to employ a DTL vaping style to ensure your coils don’t burn or flood with E-Liquid.
MTL stands for Mouth-to-Lung, and it’s a vaping style very similar to smoking, where you pull the vapour into your mouth before inhaling into your lungs. This is how most vapers start out, given that it’s the closest approximation to smoking a cigarette.
DTL stands for Direct-to-Lung, where you take long, deep pulls of vapour straight down into your lungs, similar to when smoking a shisha pipe (or simply breathing).
For more on the difference between the vaping styles, check out our other article: What is MTL and DTL Vaping?
When it comes to the best vape kits for 100% VG E-Liquids, you’ll have to employ a DTL vaping style, which means buying a sub-ohm vape kit. This is because 100% VG E-Liquids are quite thick and require kits which operate at a higher wattage with lower resistance coils.
Best Vape Kits for 100% VG E-Liquids
We’ve compiled this list based on our own tests as well as customer feedback on which kits work best.
All of the vape kits listed here are compatible with 100% VG E-Liquids using at least one of the coils that come in the box with the device, though for some kits, only one particular coil is compatible.
Always ensure that you read the product description to ensure that what you’re getting is compatible with 100% VG E-Liquids.
Aspire PockeX Vape Kit
£19.99
What We Like:
The Aspire PockeX is an excellent little starter vape kit which has stood the test of time. The PockeX has been one of our most popular vape kits for years since it first debuted in 2017.
The device is compatible with both MTL & DTL vaping out of the box, but you’ll need to use the DTL coil to ensure compatibility with 100% VG E-Liquids.
You'll also need to ensure you're employing a Direct-to-Lung (DTL) vaping style when you use the PockeX with 100% VG, because MTL vaping with 100% VG E-Liquids can cause a burnt taste, coil flooding, and spitting from the mouthpiece.
The PockeX features a stylish pen design which is sleek and pocket-friendly.
Simple to use with only 1 button for firing, the device can be turned on and off with 5 quick clicks of the button.
The device uses Aspire PockeX coils, which are known for their high quality and excellent flavour and vapour production.

---|---|---|---|---|---|

Vaporesso Armour Max Vape Kit
£59.99
What We Like:
The Vaporesso Armour Max is the big brother of the Vaporesso Armour S, which is also compatible with 100% VG—but we love the Armour Max for its incredible power output and dual batteries, which provide days of battery capacity at a time.
The Armour Max is an advanced kit for experienced vapers, offering tons of power options and customisation alongside its premium TPU exterior.
The vape is as rugged as it is versatile, offering plenty of customisation for sub-ohm vapers. You’ll need to purchase 2 external vape batteries for the device, as they’re not included.
Plus, the Armour Max is compatible with Vaporesso GTi coils, which are positively excellent for use with 100% VG E-Liquids thanks to their large wicking holes and low resistance.

The VooPoo Drag S2 is a versatile sub-ohm vape kit for intermediate vapers who are ready to try out some wattage settings.
It has a built-in 2500mAh battery to deliver up to a day of battery at a time for most vapers, and it offers multiple power modes to help you customise your experience.
With its vegan leather grip and premium design, the Drag S2 feels as good in your hand as it does while you vape.
Plus, it’s compatible with the ultra long-lasting VooPoo PnP X coils.
However, please note that you’ll need to use the included 0.2Ω (ohm) mesh coil if you’re using 100% VG E-Liquids. The other included coil is not designed for high-VG E-Liquids.
You can also purchase a pack of 0.15Ω (ohm) mesh coils separately to use with 100% VG E-Liquid.
The VooPoo Drag X2 is similar to the S2 and is also compatible with 100% VG E-Liquids, though that device has a higher power output and requires an external battery.

Vaporesso Luxe XR Max Pod Kit
£39.99
What We Like:
The Vaporesso Luxe XR Max is a sub-ohm pod mod with a lot going for it.
It supports RDTL and DTL vaping out of the box with two distinct pods and coils, but if you’re using it for 100% VG, you’ll need to ensure you’re using the included DTL pod with the 0.2Ω (ohm) mesh coil.
Sleek and portable, the Luxe XR Max is a premium kit with an OLED screen and a touch interface.
It boasts an impressive 2800mAh battery, which should last most vapers at least a day to a day and a half before requiring a recharge.
The vape utilises coils from the Vaporesso GTX coils range, which are excellent for use with 100% VG.
The vape is also compatible with the Vaporesso Luxe X pods, which have built-in coils, though we don’t recommend these for use with 100% VG as we haven't tested them ourselves.

Can I use 100% VG E-Liquids in a vape pen or starter kit?
Generally speaking, no—with the exception of the Aspire PockeX kit mentioned above. Smaller devices like vape pens and low-wattage pod kits don’t offer enough power output to vaporise 100% VG E-Liquids.
There are a few exceptions to this, but the main thing you should be looking for is whether the vape supports MTL or DTL. If it’s a DTL vape, you can usually use 100% VG E-Liquids. If it’s an MTL vape, the answer is no.
This may sound a bit complicated, and we fully understand. It’s a lot to wrap your head around.
There are two main points here:
- DTL requires high power, low resistance coils, and thicker E-Liquids
- MTL requires low power, high resistance coils, and thinner E-Liquids
There’s a bunch of electrical science behind this, but if you can remember these rules, you’re golden. You can learn more about this in our beginner’s guide to vape juice.
Thinner E-Liquids, like ones high in PG, can be used in low-powered devices like vape pens and pods. This is because thinner E-Liquids are able to saturate the coils quickly and therefore don’t require much power.
Thicker vape juices, on the other hand (like 100% VG E-Liquids), need more time to fully saturate their coils, which requires these coils to have a lower resistance (below one ohm—hence the term ‘sub-ohm’).
Think of how a sponge would absorb water versus how it would absorb oil. The water would be absorbed quicker.
Science mumbo-jumbo aside, you’ll need to ensure you’re using a vape which uses coils below 1Ω (ohm). Sub-ohm devices are the best vape kits for 100% VG E-Liquids, and using these thicker juices in other types of kits will lead to a very unpleasant vaping experience.
