Allo Sync Overview
There’s been a recent uptick of pre-filled pod kits, or closed pod systems, entering the market: devices which take pre-filled vape pods and require no maintenance, other than the occasional recharge. These devices offer a hassle-free experience for fans of disposable vapes, while being more cost-effective and sustainable in the long run.
The Allo Sync is one of these low-maintenance beauties, though it’s unique in its own rite.
For one, the compatible pods for the Allo Sync device utilise built-in mesh coils which have a greater surface area than standard wire coils, and as a result, can deliver much more flavour per puff. Mesh coils also tend to consume more E-Liquid, so I was interested to see how long the pods lasted compared to similar models.
Plus, the Allo Sync pre-filled pods offer a few flavours without ice—which is something heretofore unseen in the disposable pre-filled pod market in the UK.
Let’s get into my impressions of the device.
Design & Appearance
I received the black colour. Each of the two finishes comes with a different pack of starter pods, which is definitely a pro. If you bought one of each device, you could try all 6 flavours and have a backup device for when one of them needs to charge!
You get to try 3 different flavours in a starter pack to see which ones you like, and I really enjoyed all 3. More on this later!
The Allo Sync pod vape weighs just under 24g fully assembled, give or take a gram depending on how much liquid is left in your pod. The device itself has a smooth rubberized finish, which feels nice in your hand and allows for a steady grip. Inserting a new pod elicits a satisfying click.
On the back of the device, you’ll find the discreet Allo logo just above the USB-C port on the bottom, and on the front, you’ll see the LED indicator light encased in Allo’s stippled “A” logo. The light will glow one of three colours while vaping and charging to notify you of how much battery you have left. It’ll glow white when the battery is between 75% and 100% full, blue between 25% to 75% battery, and red when the battery capacity is below 25%.
Overall, the design and feel of the device is very sleek and unobtrusive, with a minimal design and absolutely zero interface. I really love the slick feel of the vape, and I have absolutely no qualms with its design. In fact, this device is quite sturdy and ritzy for such an inexpensive vape starter kit!
Battery Life & Performance
When it comes to performance, I didn’t experience a single flaw, fault, or hiccup in using the Allo Sync—not once. Everything about the device is really seamless, from the hair-trigger auto-draw mechanism to the LED indicator light signals.
The Allo Sync has a built-in 350mAh battery, which is really small compared to most standard pod vapes. I timed how long that very first charge lasted me, and with the first full charge, the Allo Sync battery lasted me from around 5pm Friday to 1pm Saturday, which is longer than I expected it to last given its small size.
Plus, the vape reaches full charge in under 20 minutes, so there wasn’t much down time at all.
I do think Allo could’ve done with a larger battery—after all, we’ve seen capacities up to 1000mAh even in the thinner pen-style devices, so I’m unsure why the manufacturer opted for such a small battery capacity knowing current vapers’ hunger for longer-lasting devices.
Generally speaking, manufacturers of pre-filled pod vapes tend to opt for a battery capacity that lasts roughly as long as a single pod does (so you’re less likely to taste the burnt end of an empty pod). If this is why the battery is so small, I think Allo almost nailed it. The battery died roughly two hours before the pod was empty.
Still, the vape charges super quickly, which makes up for what it lacks in capacity.
Pre-Filled Pods
With the black finish, I received one of each pod with the following flavours:
- Juicy Mango
- Fresh Grape
- Summer Fruits
The pods come pre-filled with 2ml of 20mg strength nic salt E-Liquid, which is formulated to provide a quicker nicotine delivery and a smoother throat hit at higher strengths compared to traditional “freebase” nicotine-containing E-Liquids.
The pods themselves are made of a semi-opaque white plastic material, and since there’s nothing printed on the pod, Allo have opted for a colour-coded rubber band which sits between the mouthpiece and the battery, so you can always remember which flavour you’ve put in your device. Each pod flavour has a corresponding colour (juicy mango is a yellowish-orange, grape is purple, and summer fruits is hot pink).
I was warned in advance to ensure that I properly primed the coil on these pods to avoid burning. Much like the Elf Bar Mate P1 pods, the Allo Sync pods have a special airlock system which prevents the E-Liquid from touching the coil during transit. This results in less leakage and a cleaner, fresher vape.
When you first open a new pod, you’ll need to ensure that you press the seal on the bottom of the pod inward, then let the pod sit for a few minutes. This gives the cotton inside the coil ample time to saturate—and if you don’t let it sit, you risk burning the coil and ruining the entire pod!
Another way to help prime the pod faster would be to first ensure that it is not connected to the battery. Take a quick, sharp inhale on the pod to pull the E-Liquid into the coil, then let the pod sit for a further 3 to 5 minutes.
The need to prime the pods isn’t very clearly marked on the packaging—it should be on a bright-coloured sticker on the pods themselves—so I worry some users may not wait and may end up burning their coils as a result. Thankfully, I was warned in advance.
Flavour
When I opened my first pod, I made sure to press the seal and let it sit for several minutes before I started vaping. The first pod I tried was the Fresh Grape flavour, which has a rich, not-too-sweet grape that tastes really authentic. I often find other grape flavours to be cloying, but this one was really nice. The grape is topped off with a nice burst of ice. It was probably my favourite of the three included pods, though it was a very close race!
The second pod I tried was the Juicy Mango flavour, which is exactly what it sounds like: a rich, fresh, authentic mango (far better than the Elf Bar disposable flavour, in my opinion), like a Japanese mango dessert, minus the ubiquitous ice additive we see in most all disposable vapes nowadays. It was really nice to see a flavour without ice, as I know many of our customers really dislike ice flavours in their vape. And above all else, I really didn’t feel like this flavour was lacking anything—it’s a definite winner that I’m certain I’ll buy again, even as someone who generally prefers icy vapes.
The third pod I tried was the Summer Fruits flavour, which boasts a dewy medley of ripe summer berries in each puff, plus a touch of ice on the exhale. This flavour was really something—like a delicious summer fruit squash mixed into ice-cold water. The flavour was sweet yet light, flavoursome but not too rich, with a perfect balance of sweetness and ice.
It was really hard to pick a favourite among these flavours, as they were all really excellent and touched on different flavour profiles. I think if you picked any 10 vapers off the street and asked them to rank these three flavours, you’d see an even spread across the board with no clear winner or loser.
I think the flavour you’ll prefer will come down to the profile you like the most.
Puff Count & Longevity
The first pod lasted me slightly longer than the battery did—from 5pm Friday to above 3pm Saturday. Allo advertises that their pods can provide up to 400 puffs each, though like most disposable puff counts, I’d estimate that the true capacity is about half, roughly 200 puffs per pod.
This is’t bad at all for a pre-filled vape pod—in fact, after having tried all of the pre-filled pod kits we carry, I’d say that these last longer than the Elfa Bar Elfa pods, though slightly less than the Elf Bar Mate 500 pods. More on this in the next section!
Burnt Taste
While the pods were great overall, I did notice a few times that the coil had a brief burnt taste, which went away by the next puff. This was not due to low E-Liquid levels in the pod; rather, I suspect it has something to do with the mesh coils and the E-Liquid not saturating the coil properly.
I’ve found that leaving the vape to lay on its side right before vaping it doesn’t allow the E-Liquid to reach the coil, which results in a fleeting burnt taste. In addition, taking too many puffs in a row can lead to this brief burnt flavour. Again, in my experience, the burnt taste always went away by the next puff.
This is a slight knock for the device, because the pods were excellent overall. I only experienced this about twice with each pod, so about 6 times.
Allo Sync Comparison
So, I’m lucky enough to have tried this kit, plus the two pre-filled pod kits made by Elf Bar: the Elfa and the Mate 500. Let’s see how the Allo Sync compares to these popular kits.
Allo Sync vs. Elf Bar Elfa
After having written a review for the Elf Bar Elfa device, I’d say I’m a bit of an expert.
Side by side, the two devices (without pods inserted) are the exact same height. The Allo Sync is slightly wider and slimmer, as the Elfa is perfectly round.
Where the Elfa uses pods you can’t see inside (meaning there’s no way of knowing how much E-Liquid you have left), the Allo sync uses semi-transparent pods. And while the Elfa has a larger battery than the Allo Sync, the Sync has other things going for it—like the fact that it comes with 3 pods, it uses mesh coils, and it recharges in just 20 minutes.
In addition, there are no flavours in the Elfa range that come without ice. So, if you’re looking for a pre-filled pod kit that has flavour options excluding ice, you’ll love the Allo Sync range.

Elf Bar Elfa | £7.99 | 500mAh | 500 puffs | 1 | 13 | 0 | ✗ |
Allo Sync vs. Elf Bar Mate 500
I’ve also had the pleasure of using the Elf Bar Mate 500; it’s my husband’s everyday kit. The Mate 500 and the Sync are similar in many respects, from the build of the pods to the tightness of the draw to the actual dimensions of the devices.
The two areas where the Mate 500 wins is its battery capacity and the fact that it’s also compatible with the Elf Bar Mate 500 P1 Refillable Pods, which are sold in packs of 3 and can be paired with any high-PG E-Liquid, like our best-selling Bar Juice nic salt range.
However, the Allo Sync does come first in two other areas: its mesh coils, which deliver denser flavour, and its options for non-ice flavours.
Elf Bar users will be familiar with the ubiquitous ice flavour is just about every product the brand manufactures—which is nice if you like ice. If, like many of our customers, you don’t like ice, you’re better off getting the Allo Sync, as it offers two different pod flavours without any ice.

Who should get the Allo Sync?
The Allo Sync pod device is an excellent choice for those looking to transition away from disposable vapes, and it’s also a perfect first vape for any new vaper or recent ex-smoker thanks to its ease-of-use and lack of maintenance.
For the same reasons, the Allo Sync would be a great travel vape for any on-the-go vaper looking for something more portable and pocket-friendly to take with them on their commute or on nights out.
Honestly, as a full-time vaper, I’d recommend this to anyone looking for a pre-filled vape. The functionality is seamless and the flavours are superb.

Pros & Cons of the Allo Sync
I found very few cons with the Allo Sync. My main qualms are with the number of available flavours and the capacity of the battery, but these are wholly subjective anyway.
