What is a pod vape?
Once upon a time, those looking to try vaping needed to purchase a bulky (and often expensive) vape mod and tank kit, which required batteries, coils, spare parts, and too much maintenance and vaping knowledge for some—that is, until the advent of refillable pod vapes.
In lieu of bulky glass vape tanks which have a number of removable parts and require regular maintenance, pods are generally a single piece made of plastic and require much less effort to use.
They either have built-in or replaceable coils, and the devices themselves are generally simpler to operate. In addition, pod vapes almost always have built-in batteries, meaning that you won’t need to purchase an external battery separately to use with the device.
The only downside is that because most pod vapes have built-in batteries, you can’t replace the battery when it starts to degrade. As is the case with all lithium-ion batteries—including the ones in your phone, laptop, and even your electric car—these batteries have a natural lifespan and will degrade with time.
Vape batteries start to degrade within a few months and will generally reach the end of their life cycle within 6 to 12 months, depending on how heavily you use them.
This means that pod devices are considered “semi-disposable,” meaning that they’re only designed to last for the life of the battery. Thankfully, though, pod vapes are made cheaper than those bulky monstrosities of vaping’s past, so replacing your vape isn’t as costly as it once was.
