Vaporesso Luxe X Overview
The Vaporesso Luxe X is the first pod device which supports both MTL (mouth-to-lung) & DTL (direct-to-lung) vaping using refillable pods with built-in coils.
DTL or sub-ohm vapes tend to utilise changeable coils, as opposed to pods with built-in coils. And while changeable coils have their upsides—more longevity and better variety, usually—I’ve been waiting to see a pop-and-go sub-ohm vape emerge from the market.
I was so thrilled when Vaporesso sent us this sample kit to review!
The Luxe X vape kit is a modern wonder, backed by a massive 1500mAh battery with one of the most minimal interfaces you’ll find on the market—just a single button to fire it up.
And given that this handy little pod vape kit can support all vaping styles (including, yes, RDTL), the simplicity and functionality of this device is really remarkable.
So, without further ado, let’s get into my impressions!
Design & Appearance
The Vaporesso Luxe X is a sleek-looking device with an incredibly sturdy build and a perfect feel in the palm of your hand. I received the purple finish for this review.
At first glance, you’ll note the exposed circuitry design encased in a clear plastic outer shell, with a dark gradient at the bottom where the LED lights shine through.
Above the plastic sits a matte-finish metallic piece, which houses the fire button and the airflow inlet ports on the sides. On the back of the device, you’ll find the holographic Luxe X logo.
The only issue with the Luxe X’s design is that the plastic shell is a fingerprint magnet, and it doesn’t often look clean. While this doesn’t bother me, I know some vapers really care.
Overall, the device is incredibly sleek and durable. In fact, I’ve dropped it a few times already (whoops!), and it didn’t sustain a lick of damage.
The Luxe X has enough weight to give it a sturdy feel without it being too heavy.
All in all, I’m really thrilled with the design of the Luxe X, and there really isn’t anything I’d change aside from the fingerprint issue. I’d love to see some more vibrant colours, perhaps, but the muted purple is really lovely.

Interface & Features
The Luxe X’s interface is incredibly minimal. There’s no menu system, no wattage adjustment, no setup—everything is automated for you.
The device houses a single button, which is used to fire the vape and to power it on or off (by pressing 5 times), and a set of 3 tiding lights on the bottom to indicate the device’s current battery level.
From the moment you pop in a fresh pod, the Luxe X does everything for you. It automatically sets the power output according to the resistance of the pod, so you can simply press the button to start vaping.
My biggest qualm with the Luxe X is that there’s no auto-draw feature. This is a big drawback (pun intended), especially for MTL vapers (like me) who’ve come to expect it.
Nowadays, automatic inhale activation—where you simply inhale on the mouthpiece to fire—is basically a default, and kits without it are less attractive to MTL vapers.
I think auto-draw is the biggest feature missing from the Luxe X.
Battery Life & Performance
This is where the Luxe X knocks it out of the park completely—out into the tailgate party in the car park outside the stadium.
The Luxe X comes equipped with a whopping 1500mAh battery capacity—absolutely massive! For a frequent vaper like me using it primarily as an MTL vape, the Luxe X will actually last me a full day, which is a real feat. Even using it as a DL vape yields decent battery life.
Most of the vapes I’ve used need to be charged at least 3 times a day, but the Luxe X lasts from my morning full charge all the way into the evening, with a quick top-up around 8pm or 9pm.
The indicator lights on the bottom-front of the device will tell you how much battery you have left:
- Three lights: 60-100% battery
- Two lights: 30-60% battery
- One light: 0-30% battery
I’m writing this at 1:30pm, and my full charge was completed at 6:30am today—and my battery level is still above 60%. That’s 7 hours of vaping on an almost-full battery!
The Luxe X utilises USB-C fast charging, and it takes roughly an hour to charge. So, while there is quite a bit of down time, you have to expect this with such a large battery size.
The Luxe X offers pass-through charging, too, so you can vape while it’s on charge—but don’t make a habit of this, as it can degrade the battery over time. Still, it’s a nice feature for when the vape is dead and you’re desperate for a nic fix.
The charging port is located on the bottom, and while that’s great for pass-through, it also means you can’t stand the vape upright while it’s charging. This is a minor con for me, though I know other vapers will definitely mind.
Key Specs
- Battery size: 1500mAh
- Charging type: USB Type-C
- Charging current: DC 5V/1.5A
- Total charging time: 60 mins.
Vaporesso Luxe X Pods
The Vaporesso Luxe X mesh pods are made of a sturdy, semi-transparent dark plastic material and feature built-in mesh coils, easy bottom-filling, and microfibre cotton wicks to deliver more consistent flavour. They’re fitted strongly inside the device via magnets and only have the slightest wobble.
You get both the 0.8Ω (ohm) pod (for MTL) and the 0.4Ω (ohm) pod (for DTL) with your purchase of the kit.
The coils inside the pods are made with Morph-Mesh, which I assume is a fancier type of mesh coil. Either way, you get a really dense, flavourful vapour from start to finish.
So far, I’m very pleased with the longevity of the pods. On day 5 or 6, I’d usually expect to see the flavour start to degrade, but the pods are still going strong after a week of use.
Plus, Vaporesso has just released a version of this kit called the Vaporesso Luxe XR—which is essentially just a changeable coil version of this vape. The best part? The pods and coils are cross-compatible!
This means that if you love the Luxe X but wish it had changeable coils, you can get Luxe XR pods and the compatible Vaporesso GTX coils to use instead! And if you bought the Luxe XR and wish maintenance was a little easier, you can use the Vaporesso Luxe X pods!
This is great news, and it’s the first time we’ve ever seen cross-compatibility between built-in and changeable coils. Bravo, Vaporesso!
Filling the Vaporesso Luxe X Pods
The rubber plug for the fill port on the Luxe X pods is located on the bottom, and it’s very sturdy and doesn’t leak. I did have a bit of trouble finding the fill port at first—and my friend who has the same kit did, too. Still, it’s a nice little fill port and I’ve had no issues.
One little qualm I have with the pods is that it’s quite difficult to tell how much E-Liquid you have left. This is due to the colour of the pods, and also because the bottom parts of the pod obscure the E-Liquid level.
When it’s flipped upside down, you can see the vape juice as it trickles into either side of the mouthpiece, but once it reaches the top of the split, you can’t really tell where the E-Liquid level is.
For me, this either means that I end up overfilling it, which causes spitback from the mouthpiece, or underfilling it, which leaves me refilling again shortly thereafter.
I’d love to see clearer pods, perhaps—ones that are easier to see inside. The pods are great in general, but refills aren’t as easy as in some other vapes.
Mouthpiece
My absolute favourite part about the pods is the mouthpieces. Now, I’m not usually one for these wider mouthpieces, but with the Luxe X, the shape has been meticulously crafted to cater to each vaping style.
You’ll notice that the shape of the mouthpiece is narrower on the MTL pods, which I love! And the wider mouthpiece on the DTL pods is perfect for sub-ohm vaping. You really do get the best of both worlds.
Airflow
The airflow configuration is set based on the orientation of the pod—each pod has two airflow options, which you can swap between by flipping the pod 180°. On the MTL pod, for example, your two options are a semi-tight MTL and a loose RDTL.
I would have liked to see a stepless airflow adjustment switch—I would prefer a slightly tighter MTL draw, personally. And on a device that retails for £30, you should be getting all the bells and whistles.
Moreover, the airflow configurations on the DTL pod are really similar. I actually tried the DTL pod first, and I didn’t realise you could change the airflow at first as I didn’t notice a difference when I flipped it.
It wasn’t until I switched over to the MTL pod that the airflow configurations were clearer. I think Vaporesso did a good job with the MTL pod’s airflow (barring the fact that I wish it were tighter), but the airflow options on the DTL pod could be better differentiated.
The airflow configuration is a bit of a guessing game. It would be nice if Vaporesso put a little text on the side of the pod to indicate which way you should place the pod for tighter or looser airflow.
Pairing the Luxe X With E-Liquids
If you’re using the Vaporesso Luxe X, it’s important to note that each pod type will require different E-Liquids. This is due to the resistance of the coils inside the pods; high resistance coils require thinner liquids while lower resistances require thicker ones.
For the MTL pods (0.8Ω), you should only be using high-PG E-Liquids like salt nicotine or 50/50 vape juices.
For the DTL pods (0.4Ω), you’ll need a high-VG E-Liquid like a shortfill for best results.
Key Specs
- Capacity: 2ml
- Fill port: Bottom-fill
- Coil resistance: 0.4Ω, 0.8Ω
- Coil type: mesh (built-in)
- Compatible E-Liquids: Nic salts & 50/50 E-Liquid (0.8Ω); high-VG shortfills (0.4Ω)
Vaping the Vaporesso Luxe X
Vaping the Vaporesso Luxe X kit is an absolute breeze. Just prime your pod, pop it in, and press the fire button to vape. Voilà!
With no menus or settings to configure, there really isn’t much to it—which is great for those of us who like to just fill it up and forget about it until it’s time for the next refill. I, for one, hate having to fiddle with interfaces on pod kits when I’m just trying to enjoy my vaping experience.
This is one of the least obtrusive vapes I’ve ever used—though I would argue that the addition of an auto-draw feature would make it even better. The massive battery capacity paired with the single-button operation makes this one of the better vapes for those of us who like a minimal interface.
In my experience of this kit, I have few negative notes apart from my qualms with the lack of auto-draw and the dark colour of the pods. Operation is simple and straightforward, and there’s really nothing I’d change about the vape’s functionality.
Who should get the Luxe X?
The Vaporesso Luxe X is the perfect kit for those who want to enjoy both MTL and DTL vaping (and even RDL vaping, if you’re nasty), especially if you want the best of both worlds with minimal fuss. No menus, nothing to set up or configure—just a seamlessly easy-to-use vape kit with a wide array of options.
Vaporesso Luxe X Accessibility
I’m very pleased to report that this vape is very accessible in general, though I would say that those with a visual impairment may have trouble seeing inside the pods when filling, and those with dexterity issues (like arthritis) may struggle to open the fill port.
So, while it may take slightly longer for you to refill the vape if you have vision problems or issues with dexterity in your hands, using the vape is certainly not impossible. Overall, I’d say it’s a solid option for vapers looking for a low-maintenance kit regardless of your accessibility requirements.

Conclusion
I have absolutely loved using the Vaporesso Luxe X, and I’m sure it’ll be my everyday kit for a while to come.
There are currently no other vape kits on the market that can do both MTL and DTL vaping using pods with built-in coils—and there are also no other kits offering the same type of cross-compatibility (the ability to choose pods with either changeable or built-in coils).
A huge thank you to Vaporesso for sending this kit over for review—they reached out to us after reading our other Vaporesso articles and were very keen to hear our feedback on their devices.
It’s clear that Vaporesso is really trying to improve the experience for all their users.
