50/50 Shortfills

50/50 Shortfill E-Liquids are large bottles of nicotine-free vape juice that are "short filled," so as to leave the ideal amount of space in each bottle for a nicotine shot or two to be added.

They are made up from a ratio of 50% Vegetable Glycerin (VG), and 50% Propylene Glycol, have a thinner viscosity than regular shortfills, and are good for use in starter vape kits.

This is a popular alternative to standard 10ml juice bottles for beginner vapers looking to save money, and are the only kind of shortfill E-Liquid that can be used in MTL kits.

Adding a recommended one 18mg nic shot to a 40 ml juice will result in a 3.3mg nicotine strength, while adding another will result in 6mg. Adding a recommended two 18mg nic shots to a 100ml juice will result in a 3mg nicotine strength. Two 20mg nic shots in the same juice will create a 3.3mg nic strength.

What are 50/50 Shortfills?

50/50 Short fill E-Liquid, like regular shortfills, are nicotine-free and come in underfilled ("short filled") bottles, with space for for you to add your own nicotine via nic shots.

The '50/50' denotes the ratio of VG (vegetable glycerin) to PG (propylene glycol); it makes them compatible with starter vape kits and other low powered beginner MTL pod vapes.

A popular alternative to regular shortfills, 50/50 short fills are the only vape juices that can be used in MTL kits, making them far more accessible to a large portion of the vaping market.

Shortfills came about when the TPD (Tobacco Product Directive) was introduced, which limited nicotine-containing E-Liquids to 10ml bottles. Shortfills allow you to purchase more E-Liquid at once, since they have no nicotine.

Shortfills therefore provide a much more cost-effective and customizable vaping solution than other e-juice bottles or disposable vapes do.

Vapers can add nicotine shots of varying strengths to achieve their desired nicotine concentration, making 50/50 shortfills a versatile choice for both new and experienced users.

Nicotine-Free

Shortfills come with zero nicotine added so you can mix in your own nic shots, or vape them nicotine-free.

Space in the Bottle

The juices come "short filled," leaving enough space for you to add in 1 or 2 nic shots depending on the bottle.

50/50 Ratio

These E-Liquids are made from a basic formulation of 50% VG to 50% PG.

Compatible with Starter Vape Kits

These e-juices are specifically designed for use with beginner pod vapes and MTL devices.

How do I add nicotine to my 50/50 shortfill?

To add nicotine to your 50/50 shortfill, you'll first need to purchase nic shots. For a 100ml shortfill, you'll need two.

These large bottles of vape juice have a removable nib which can be popped off either by hand or with a bottle opener tool. You'll also need to remove the nib on your nic shot(s). Once you've removed the nibs, pour the nic shot(s) into your shortfill bottle and replace the nib. This will fill the bottle all the way to the top. You should hear or feel a "click" once the nib is back in place.

From here, place your finger over the nozzle on top and shake the bottle vigorously for at least 30 seconds to make sure the nicotine is fully mixed.

How much nicotine should I add to my 50/50 shortfill?

Most 50/50 shortfill bottles cater to a total nic strength of 3mg, except from the Seriously Pod Fill Max range, which technically can allow for a 6mg strength due to its smaller bottle size.

We generally recommend that you purchase two 18mg nic shots for a 100ml liquid, and one nic shot for a 40ml liquid.

If you prefer nic salts, you can also purchase nic salt shots which are made with nicotine salt instead of freebase nicotine.

Bottle Size Nic Shot Total Strength
40ml/60ml 1 x 18mg 3.3mg
40ml/60ml 1 x 20mg 4mg
40ml/60ml 2 x 18mg 6mg
40ml/60ml 2 x 20mg 6.6mg
100ml/120ml 2 x 9mg 1.5mg
100ml/120ml 2 x 18mg 3mg
100ml/120ml 2 x 20mg 3.3mg

What type of vape kit should I use with a 50/50 shortfill?

50/50 Shortfills are made with a formulation of 50% VG to 50% PG, which means that they're thinner than regular shortfills are for use in beginner vape devices and other starter kits. They are perfect for starter vapers looking to save money, and reduce their waste by using a refillable pod kit.

You can technically use a 50/50 shortfill with an advanced DTL kit, but we don't recommend this. You could end up consuming too much nicotine or your vape may begin to leak. Plus, its just not as nice.

What's the best 50/50 shortfill vape juice?

Of course, this is a matter of preference, but Drifter Bar Juice is our top selling 50/50 shortfill E-Liquid. They have mastered many disposable flavours that starter vapers love, such as Watermelon IceKiwi Passion Guava, and Blue Razz Lemonade

The Seriously Pod Fill range is another 50/50 shortfill classic, with unique flavours catering to fruit lovers everywhere. If dessert flavours are more your thing, look no further than the JAKD range. The Jack Rabbit Custard Doughnut flavour is not to be missed!

And for vapers on a budget, we have a great selection of premium 100ml shortfills in our Mix & Match 2 for £20 offer!

50/50 shortfills have a different ratio of ingredients to regular shortfills, and therefore are compatible with MTL devices, whereas regular shortfills are thicker due to their higher VG content, and are designed for advanced vape kits.

Shortfills come in many different size variations, but 50/50 shortfills generally come in 120ml bottles containing 100ml of vape juice and space for two nic shots. Currently, the Seriously Pod Fill Max range is the only range available in a different bottle size: 60ml, with 40ml of E-Liquid inside.

Nicotine salt shots are a great addition to your 50/50 shortfill, as they deliver a smoother throat hit and quicker nicotine delivery than other nic shots. We recommend the Drifter Nic Salt Shot. Adding 2 x 20mg of this to a 100ml shortfill will create 120ml of a 3.3 strength vape juice.

In the UK, purchasing shortfills that already contain nicotine is not possible due to TPD regulations, which restrict the sale of nicotine-containing E-Liquids to bottles no larger than 10ml.

Consequently, shortfills are sold without nicotine, but they are designed with extra space in the bottle, allowing you the option to add nicotine if you choose.

Unfortunately, we can’t pre-mix nicotine into shortfills for you. To achieve your desired nicotine strength, you'll need to buy nicotine shots separately and mix them into your shortfills at home.
