Vape Coils

Vape Coils are a crucial component in your vaping experience at the heart of every vape kit. They heat E-Liquid to produce the vapor that you inhale, playing a critical role in determining both flavour intensity and cloud production.

Our assortment includes a variety of coil types, from standard coils suitable for mouth-to-lung (MTL) vaping to sub-ohm coils for those who prefer a direct-to-lung (DTL) style. We also stock a wide range of resistance levels, materials, and configurations, ensuring that we cater to all vaper preferences and device specifications.

All products in our collection are sourced from trusted manufacturers known for their commitment to quality and innovation. Whether you require coils for pod systems or advanced mod kits, you'll find reliable options compatible with your device.

What is a Vape Coil?

Arguably the most important part of a vape is the coil—also known as an atomiser. This is the piece inside your vape pod or tank that heats and vaporises your E-Liquid.

A coil contains two main components: the metal heating element and the wicking material. The heating material, which is either wire or mesh, is where the electrical current passes through the vape to heat the liquid. The wick, which you can see inside the small holes around the outside of a coil, is where the E-Liquid is absorbed.

Coils have a natural lifespan and will need to be replaced periodically. Some pod vapes use pods with built-in coils, and for these devices, you'll simply need to replace the entire pod once the coil is finished.

Coils can be very confusing, especially for new vapers, given their different types and resistances. Fear not: we're here to help!

What are the different types of vape coils?

Wire Coils

Wire coils are the standard type. They are spiral-shaped and offer a good balance of heat, flavour, and cloud production. They use less E-Liquid than mesh coils.

Mesh Coils

Mesh coils have a wider surface area and can therefore heat up and vaporise more E-Liquid much faster. This creates more flavour and denser clouds.

What are the different types of coil wicking material?

Cotton Coils

The gold standard of wicking materials is cotton, found in most coils. Cotton offers great absorption and longevity and is the most popular wicking material.

Ceramic Coils

Ceramic coils are more porous than cotton coils, offering better absorption and longevity. This can better flavour and a longer lifespan overall.

What are ohms and coil resistance?

Ohms (Ω) are a measure of electrical resistance. This can be very technical, but essentially, low resistance is for sub-ohm vaping while high resistance is for MTL vaping.

The lower the resistance, the more electrical current can be conducted through it. A lower resistance (under 1.0 ohm) allows for a higher wattage, which means faster heating, larger clouds, and more flavour.

With higher resistances (above 1.0 ohm), less vapour is produced, but this is better for higher nicotine E-Liquids like salt nicotine.

What coil resistance should I choose?

You'll need to consider your vaping style and what type of E-Liquid you plan to use.

MTL (Mouth-to-Lung) Vape Coils

Mouth to Lung coils (or MTL coils) have a higher resistance—above 1.0 ohm—and produce a small amount of vapour, perfect for the MTL vaping style. MTL coils should be used with high-PG juices like nicotine salts or freebase 50/50 E-Liquids.

Sub-Ohm Vape Coils

Subohm coils have a lower resistance—below 1.0 ohm—and will create a large amount of vapour to support the DTL (Direct-to-Lung) vaping style. Sub-ohm coils should be used with high-VG E-Liquids, including most shortfill vape juices.

How long does a vape coil last?

This will depend on your vaping style and frequency, but the most important factor is the sweetness of your E-Liquids. Sweeter vape juices will make your coils degrade faster as the sweetener will caramelise around the coil from heating over time.

With that being said, most coils will last you between one to two weeks. If your coil isn't lasting this long, you may need to consider the sweetness of your E-Liquids, the type of E-Liquid you're using, or the wattage you're using to vape them.

How do I know when to change my coil?

You'll know that it's time to replace a coil once it starts to taste burnt or begins losing its flavour.

Once your coil starts to taste burnt, you should change it. You should not continue vaping on a burnt coil.

What vape coil do I need?

Every device on the market will have a specific coil or range of coils that it's compatible with. Most manufacturers create specific coils to work with specific kits, though they will often produce a range of different resistances and coil types for you to choose from to customise your experience. Some of the more versatile vape kits on the market are compatible with a wide range of coils, and in these cases, the choice is yours!

Some vape hardware manufacturers make cross-compatible coils, which are coils that are compatible with several different devices. For example, Vaporesso GTX coils can be paired with a number of different Vaporesso vape kits

If you're unsure which coil you need for your specific vape kit, you should check the product description or the user manual for your specific device, where you'll find detailed information about compatibility.
