What is a vape kit?

In the most basic sense, a vape kit is the device you use to vaporise an E-Liquid. E-cigarettes comprise a battery, a pod or tank to hold the E-Liquid, and a coil, which is the element inside your pod or tank that heats the juice.

If you're new to vaping, you might be overwhelmed by the number of devices on the market. Knowing which to choose requires lots of research—all before even considering which vape juice to choose!

But finding the right device for you doesn’t have to be complicated. We offer an array of starter vape kits to help you get started.

What are the different types of vape kits?

Pod Vapes

Pod vape kits, sometimes called pod mods, are the simplest type of vape to operate, using refillable pods instead of tanks. They're portable, convenient, and discreet.

A pod device is designed to replicate the feeling of smoking, making it an excellent choice for new vapers. Many pod vapes offer auto-inhale activation, just like a disposable vape, minus the cost and waste!

You'll find both refillable and prefilled pod vapes on the market. Refillable pods allow you to fill with an E-Liquid of your choosing, while prefilled pods offer more ease-of-use and less maintenance.

Vape Pens

Vape pen kits are a classic style of e-cigarette with a slim, cylindrical, pen-shaped design. These kits are very simple to use and are great for new vapers.

Powered by a built-in battery, pens have a tank or pod which you fill with an E-Liquid of your choice. They often have single-button operation for vaping, meaning no confusing menu systems or settings.

Some offer adjustable wattage or airflow for the more adventurous vapers out there. They may also require you to change your coil regularly, but we also offer a variety of pens which have pods with built-in coils.

Advanced Vape Kits

Advanced vape kits, also known as sub-ohm vapes, are designed for experienced vapers employing a DTL (Direct-to-Lung) vaping style.

Sub-ohm vapes tend to produce a lot of vapour compared to other kits, so they're only recommended for use with low-nicotine E-Liquids like shortfills. For this reason, they're not the first choice for new vapers.

Advanced kits offer tons of personalisation, including variable wattage, temperature control, and a range of coil options. They're a step-up for experienced vapers looking to lower their nicotine and enjoy some clouds.

What is included in a vape kit?

You'll want to check the product description for information on what comes with a particular kit, but generally speaking, a vape kit will always come with everything you need to get started, minus the E-Liquid. These will need to be purchased separately.

All vape kits in our shop will come with a device, a tank or pod, and one or more coils, depending on the model. You may sometimes need to purchase a charging cable separately, but this will be clearly outlined in the product description.

Some of the more advanced vape kits we carry do not have built-in batteries and may require you to purchase one or two vape batteries separately, but this will be noted in the product description.

Open vs. Closed Vape Systems

Open Vape Kits

These vapes are the traditional refillable kits you'll see on the market. They can be filled and refilled with a juice of your choosing, and they typically require some form of maintenance. Some may have a tank, while others may house a replaceable pod.

This may mean changing a coil every 1 to 2 weeks, or if you use a pod with built-in coils, this will mean throwing away your pod and replacing it with a new one once it starts to taste burnt or begins losing its flavour.

Open systems are the most cost-effective choice for vapers on a budget, and they also have the benefit of being compatible with the thousands of available E-Liquids we stock here at Vape Green.

Closed Vape Kits

These vapes are not refillable. Easy-to-use and requiring less maintenance, these vapes are perfect for nights out or your morning commute. There are two types of closed pod systems available.

The first is a disposable vape, which is designed for single-use and cannot be recharged or refilled. These vapes are meant to be discarded once they're empty and require the least maintenance of any type of vape we stock.

The second type is a prefilled pod vape, which is a rechargeable kit that uses prefilled pods. These pods cannot be refilled and must be discarded and replaced when they're empty. Prefilled kits create less waste and are more cost-effective than disposables.
