Duty-Free Vapes: We Stocked Up Before the October Vape Tax, So Today's Prices Hold

The UK Vaping Products Duty came into force on 1 October 2026: £2.20 on every 10ml of e-liquid, with VAT on top. We saw it coming and stocked up before it landed, which is why the e-liquid you buy from us today is still duty-free, at the same prices as before. Here is how that works, what is covered, and how long it can last.

The vape tax is no longer coming. It is here. If you have read our complete UK vape tax guide, you know the shape of it: a flat £2.20 per 10ml on every e-liquid, nicotine or not, with 20% VAT charged on top of the duty. That works out at about £2.64 per 10ml in real money, so a £2.99 nic salt becomes a £5.63 nic salt the moment it is replaced by a duty-paid bottle.

We did not want to be the shop that simply passed that on in week one. So over the summer we moved warehouse, joined forces with a much bigger stock holder, and bought in as much e-liquid as we sensibly could before 1 October. Not one of those bottles carries the duty, and they are what we are selling now.

Let's walk through what that means for you.

Let's be precise, because the phrase gets used loosely. When we say duty-free vapes, we mean e-liquid that was manufactured in or imported into the UK before 1 October 2026. The Vaping Products Duty is charged at the point of manufacture or import, so a bottle that was already sitting in our warehouse on 30 September never had the duty applied to it. There is no £2.20 per 10ml hiding in its price, because nobody ever paid it.

HMRC built a six-month grace period into the rules: retailers can sell through that pre-duty stock until 31 March 2027. From 1 April 2027 every bottle on sale in the UK must carry a duty stamp. So our duty-free stock is completely legal, properly labelled, and bought from the same UK distributors as always. The only difference is the date it arrived.

Two things it is not. It is not VAT-free: nothing sold in a UK shop is, and VAT was always in the price you paid. And it is not the airport kind of duty-free. If that is what you were searching for, the traveller allowance for vaping liquid is just 50ml, and bringing in more means duty on the whole lot, so a single 100ml shortfill from us already beats it (more on that in the questions at the end).

The biggest change is behind the scenes. VapeGreen is now part of the Dispergo family. Dispergo Vaping is an Oxfordshire vape wholesaler and retailer, and your orders now ship from our shared warehouse at Unit 17 Stationfields, Stationfield Industrial Estate, Kidlington OX5 1JD.

Why does that matter to you? Because Dispergo's wholesale stock sits in the same building as our retail shelves. When a flavour runs low on the website, it moves straight over from wholesale rather than waiting on a supplier delivery. The result is one much bigger stock pool, topped up constantly, and right now that pool is pre-duty stock too.

Everything else stays the same. The website, the VapeGreen name, your account and your order history are all unchanged, and support@vapegreen.co.uk still reaches the same support team. If you need to call, the warehouse number is 01993 627341.

Here is the honest version. We bought in as much stock as we could before the duty, thousands of bottles and kits across our best-selling ranges, and the shared warehouse keeps topping up our shelves from Dispergo's own pre-duty wholesale stock in the same building. We also kept our own Frugi e-liquid in production right up to the deadline.

Our promise is simple: we hold today's prices for as long as pre-duty stock lasts. Once a flavour's pre-duty stock is gone, the next batch arrives with the duty on it and its price has to rise. Nobody can tell you exactly when that day comes for each flavour, which is why we say it plainly: these prices last while stock lasts, and the product page always shows the current price.

The maths is straightforward. Take the bottle size, work out how many 10ml units it holds, multiply by £2.20, then add 20% VAT on that duty. A 10ml bottle picks up £2.64. A 50ml shortfill picks up £13.20. A 100ml shortfill picks up £26.40.

A lot of you have been asking, and the answer is yes. Frugi, our own all-natural and PG-free 50ml shortfill range, is in stock in 12 flavours at £16.99 a bottle, or Mix & Match 2 for £30. Peppermint Menthol is back too. Strawberry Kiwi Ice is the one flavour waiting on its next batch. We kept the mixing going right up to the duty deadline, so every bottle on the shelf is pre-duty.

We will be honest about what happens when that stock runs out. A 50ml bottle picks up £11 of duty, £13.20 with VAT, and we are still working out what that means for the brand. One option we are looking at is one-week pre-order windows, made in smaller batches. Nothing is decided, so the best advice is to buy your favourites while they are duty-free and check back for the current price and availability.

Honestly, it depends on the flavour. A best seller like Bar Juice 5000 Lemon & Lime sells hundreds of bottles a month, so its pre-duty pile will run down faster than a quieter flavour's. The legal backstop is 31 March 2027: after that, every bottle sold in the UK must be duty-paid and stamped, whatever shop you buy from. Between now and then, each flavour moves to a duty-paid price only when its pre-duty stock is gone.

We are not going to put countdown timers on the site or guess at dates. The product page shows today's price, and if it still reads £2.99, that bottle is duty-free. That is the whole system.

More than ever. Every bottle you buy from us at today's price is one that was bought in before 1 October, and that stock does not get replaced at the same price. When a flavour sells out and the next batch arrives, it arrives with £2.64 of duty and VAT on every 10ml.

The multibuy deals still apply, so the sensible move is the same one it has always been: pick your everyday flavours and buy a few weeks' worth in one go. Bar Juice 5000 is 4 for £10, Baa Juice is 5 for £10, Frugi is 2 for £30, and delivery is free on orders over £20. E-liquid keeps for well over a year stored somewhere cool and dark, so a three-month supply bought today is a three-month supply the tax never touched.

Are duty-free vapes legal in the UK?

Yes. Vaping Products Duty is charged on e-liquid made in or imported into the UK from 1 October 2026. Stock that was already in the country before that date was never liable for the duty, and HMRC's grace period lets retailers sell it until 31 March 2027. Ours was bought from the same UK distributors as always; it simply arrived before the deadline.

Is duty-free the same as tax-free?

No. VAT at 20% applies to every vape product sold in the UK and always has. Duty-free means the £2.20 per 10ml Vaping Products Duty is not in the price. The vape tax people talk about is that duty.

Can I buy duty-free vapes at the airport or abroad instead?

Not in any useful quantity. Travellers arriving in Great Britain can bring in up to 50ml of vaping liquid for personal use without paying duty. Bring more and duty is due on the whole amount, not just the excess. A single 100ml shortfill from us is already twice that allowance, at a pre-duty price, delivered to your door.

How do I know a bottle is duty-free?

Look at the price. Our pre-duty stock is sold at the same prices as before 1 October, so a 10ml nic salt at £2.99 or a Frugi shortfill at £16.99 is pre-duty stock. When a flavour moves to a duty-paid batch, its price on the product page changes with it.

Do duty-free prices apply to prefilled pods and kits?

Prefilled pods contain e-liquid, so new pods carry the duty (about 53p on a 2ml pod with VAT). Our Hayati pods were bought in before 1 October. Devices, empty pods and coils are not taxed at all, before or after.

The vape tax arrived on 1 October 2026 and it is not small. We moved to a bigger shared warehouse, stocked up on the ranges you buy most before the duty, and we are selling that duty-free stock at the same prices as before for as long as it lasts.
