What are Shortfill E-Liquids?
Shortfill E-Liquids are larger bottles of E-Liquids that are Nicotine Free, meaning they contain 0mg of Nicotine. They are shortfilled to leave space to add a nicotine shot if desired. Shortfill E-Liquids came to the vaping market late 2017 - early 2018 due to the then new TPD restrictions that came in to affect late...
Shortfill E-liquids large bottles of E-Liquids usually formulated 70%+ VG Blends. The name shortfill comes from the fact that the bottles are not filled all the way up, leaving 10ml or more of space to accommodate a 10ml Nicotine Shot or two to be added. Shorfill E-Liquids are mostly aimed towards more experienced Sub-Ohm vapers using high wattage kits with coils below 1ohm.
Shortfill E-Liquids are Nicotine Free due to the TPD regulation in the UK/EU limiting sales of any E-Liquids containing nicotine to 10ml bottle size. As shortfill E-Liquids are Nicotine Free they can be sold in much larger bottles (no limit) and the user can then add Nicotine by using 10ml Nicotine Shots.
The quickest and easiest answer is 3mg using a 18mg nic shot or (3.3mg) using a 20mg nic shot.
This is due to the UK/EU TPD regulations limiting the nicotine strength on E-Liquids to a maximum of 20mg. Therefore the strongest Nicotine Shots available in UK/EU is 20mg. The most common Shortfill bottle size is a 60ml bottle containing 50ml of 0mg E-liquid. To calculate how much nicotine you will get after mixing the nicotine shot we need to take the strength of the Nicotine shot and divide it with the total amount of E-Liquid in the bottle after the nic shot has been added.
For example if we use a 18mg Nicotine shot in a 50ml shortfill bottles it will be 50ml 0mg E-Liquid + 10ml nic shot = 60ml E-Liquid. To make the calculation we take the nicotine shot strength 18mg and divide it with the amount of E-Liquid 60ml - 18/60 = 0.3 and that is (3mg)
A quick cheat sheet
As shortfill E-Liquids are usually formulated in higher 70%+ VG blends we recommend using a Sub-Ohm vape kit for best experience. Unless you are using a specific Pod kit designed for Sub-Ohm / Shortfill E-Liquids we do not recommend using Pod kits or basic starter kits.
