OXVA Xlim EZ Pods Review
OXVA just released a new range of pods for their OXVA Xlim vapes series: OXVA Xlim EZ pods. With clamshell top-filling and improved leak-proof mechanisms, I was so stoked to try these out!
The new OXVA Xlim EZ pods feature clamshell top-filling—the same type of fill port used in the popular Vaporesso XROS and Uwell Caliburn pods.
To be honest, the main reason I’ve gravitated away from OXVA Xlim vapes and toward Vaporesso XROS vapes as my daily kit is because of the fill port. Refilling with a clamshell top-fill pod is just so much quicker and easier than refilling a fill port with a silicone plug.
And frankly, both the Vaporesso XROS and OXVA Xlim vapes are pretty comparable as far as flavour production, design, and interface are concerned, with both series ranking at the top of my list of personal favourites.
So, imagine my delight when I learned that OXVA was putting out true top-fill pods for the Xlim series. There hasn’t been nearly as much hype about these pods as there should be, in my opinion.
Without further ado, let’s dive into my impressions!
OXVA Xlim EZ Pods Overview
The all-new OXVA Xlim EZ pods are available in the same resistances as the previous OXVA Xlim pods: 0.4Ω (ohm), 0.6Ω, 0.8Ω, and 1.2Ω.
The lower-resistance pods are ideal for those seeking lots of flavour and bigger clouds, while the higher-resistance 1.2Ω pod is great if you’re transitioning away from disposables and want a similar experience. The 0.8Ω pod is a great middle-ground for vapers who want a good mix of flavour intensity, cloud size, and throat hit.
Notably, all of the pods, no matter which resistance you choose, are compatible with the same types of E-Liquids. You can use any high-PG vape juices in your Xlim pods; those with a 50/50 ratio of VG and PG—like nic salts, freebase 10ml E-Liquids, and 50/50 shortfills—will do just fine.
We don’t recommend pairing your Xlim pods with any high VG E-Liquids (like standard shortfills), as this can cause the coils to burn out prematurely and may cause leaking issues.
The pods feature advanced four-layer leak resistance at every level, including at the fill port, the top of the coil, the base of the coil, and the wick.
They also feature a sealed refill system with direct venting at the refill port, which creates a tighter seal and prevents leakage.
The pods have integrated mesh coils for more even heating and flavour production. OXVA advertises that each pod can handle up to 50ml of E-Liquid before it’ll need to be replaced, which is the equivalent of five standard 10ml bottles worth of nic salts.
Though, to be honest, I’ve found that the previous versions of the pods can handle a lot more than that—so I’m curious to see if these are the same.
The OXVA Xlim EZ pods are compatible with all of the following OXVA Xlim vapes:
- OXVA Xlim Pro 2
- OXVA Xlim Pro
- OXVA Xlim SQ Pro
- OXVA Xlim Go
- OXVA Xlim Classic Edition
- OXVA Xlim SE 2
- OXVA Xlim SE*
- OXVA Xlim SQ*
- OXVA Xlim*
*OXVA says that these devices are not compatible with the 0.4Ω version of the pods, as they don’t have a high enough power output range.
So, with their wide compatibility, improved lifespan and leak protection, and of course, their incredible clamshell top-fill ports, these pods promise a lot. This fill port is something I’ve been begging OXVA for since their first Xlim vape came out, and I can’t wait to try them.
Let’s see if they deliver!
OXVA Xlim EZ Pods Review
I received the 0.6Ω pods for this review. I’m using my OXVA Xlim Pro 2, which is an incredible device. Check out my OXVA Xlim Pro 2 review for more details and specs!
I’ll be vaping my all-time favourite E-Liquids, Bar Juice. I’d like to compare the flavour of these pods to the pods I use every day—the Vaporesso XROS 2.0 pods. Notably, I normally use 0.4Ω pods, so the flavour will of course be slightly muted in comparison, as the 0.6Ω OXVA pods use less power.
First and foremost, the clamshell cap is excellent. If you’ve ever used a snap-off mouthpiece before, you’ll know that they’re notoriously difficult to open the first time around. I had no issue opening any of the pods.
In addition, sometimes pods with these types of caps don’t fit back onto the pods correctly, leaving a teeny-tiny—almost imperceptible—gap which disrupts the vacuum inside the pod and causes the E-Liquid to flood out of the bottom holes.
I can’t tell you how many times I’ve put the mouthpiece back onto my XROS pods only to later find that I didn’t, in fact, snap the cap back on completely—which of course led to the contents of the pod flooding the inside of my vape. It’s always a hassle to clean, and it’s more common now with the newer XROS 2.0 pods, which have flimsier plastic caps.
Luckily, I haven’t experienced this at all with the OXVA Xlim EZ pods. The cap snaps back on beautifully.
My only small, niggling qualm with the pods is that the plastic is tinted—why? Anything that reduces E-Liquid visibility, even slightly, is a con for me. I like to keep an eye on my E-Liquid levels and the state of the cotton inside my coil, and tinting the exterior of the pods just makes this harder.
This is a really small con in the grand scheme of things, and most vapers likely won’t even notice. But hey—I’m a professional vape reviewer. Critics gonna critique.
The flavour from the pods is exceptional, as always with OXVA vapes. It’s clean, crisp, and strong—everything I’ve come to expect from the Xlim series. I’ve tried using the OXVA Xlim EZ pod alongside my everyday Vaporesso XROS pod (both pods are filled with the same vape juice), and frankly, I can’t taste any difference.
I really thought these pods would be too good to be true, but OXVA has floored me once again.
How to Fill OXVA Xlim EZ Pods
To refill the OXVA Xlim EZ pods, simply snap off the mouthpiece. It’s easier to do this with the pod fitted inside your device. To snap off the cap, you’ll need to put sideways pressure on the mouthpiece. It may feel like you’re going to break it, but rest assured: the plastic is nice and sturdy!
Once you’ve snapped off the mouthpiece, simply insert the nib of your E-Liquid bottle into the red fill port, pushing down the red silicone piece as you go. Fill your pod roughly 80% of the way—overfilling can cause your coil to flood!
Once your pod is filled, place the mouthpiece back in its original position and press it back on until you hear a “click” or a “snap.”
If this is your first time filling the pod, remember to wait 3 to 5 minutes before vaping to allow the cotton inside the pod’s coil to soak up the E-Liquid. This will prevent dry hits which can ruin your pod before you even get started.
Conclusion
All in all, I’m a huge fan of these pods. They’re easier to refill than the other 2 versions of the OXVA Xlim pods, and they offer the same incredible flavour and vapour production.
If you find that the fill port of the other Xlim pods you’re using is a little too fussy or messy, try the OXVA Xlim EZ pods. I promise: you won’t be disappointed!
These pods get 5 out of 5 stars from me—and they’re definitely an improvement from the previous versions.
