Vaporesso XROS 4 and XROS 4 Mini Review
Vaporesso sent over some samples of the new Vaporesso XROS 4 and XROS 4 Mini pod kits so I could write a review. Let’s take a deep dive into my impressions of the new kits!
Vaporesso has just released the latest pod vapes in the Vaporesso XROS series: the XROS 4 and the XROS 4 Mini!
As usual, Vaporesso was kind enough to send over some sample kits for us to review, and instead of two long and detailed reviews, I figured I’d combine them since they share so many commonalities.
I’m a big fan of the XROS (pronounced “cross”) series. The XROS Pro review was an absolute pleasure to write, and the vape quickly became my daily go-to. So, when the XROS 4 and XROS 4 Mini were announced alongside the new universal Vaporesso XROS V2 pods, I just knew I needed to try them.
This will be a long one, so without further ado, let’s dive in!

Vaporesso XROS 4 and XROS 4 Mini Overview
The Vaporesso XROS 4 and XROS 4 Mini debuted with the promise of stronger, longer-lasting, and more accurate flavour, plus more ease-of-use with fewer confusing settings. The vapes are made with durable, premium materials, as is the case with all Vaporesso vape kits.
The XROS 4 models take the series to a new level with more intuitive controls and a streamlined, ergonomic design.
After seeing the various colour options and the advertised features, I couldn’t wait to get my hands on these.
Let’s get into it!
Design and Appearance
I received the Pink Mint finish for the XROS 4 and the Ice Purple finish for the XROS 4 Mini. I’m a sucker for a pastel colour palette, and the two finishes look so lovely together.
For both vapes, the shell comprises a sturdy all-aluminium alloy unibody, both for durability and to keep the vapes lightweight. The two models have very similar designs, with curved edges, airflow inlets on either side of the pod, the embossed Vaporesso logos, and the adjustable airflow toggle on the back.
The XROS 4 comes in an array of finishes, though I believe they’re all the same brushed metal material.
The Mini, on the other hand, has a sort of rippled effect to the metal, and the lack of symmetry in the pattern there definitely bothers my OCD. This isn’t a con, by any means—it’s more of a personal irk.
The major differences between the design of the XROS 4 and the XROS 4 Mini are the devices’ heights and the placement of their charging ports. The body of the XROS 4 is about a centimetre taller than the Mini.
Regarding the charging ports, the XROS 4 has one on the side of the device, while the Mini has its charging port on the bottom. I’m not sure why the placement of the charging port varies between the 2 models, but regardless, you can’t charge either vape standing upright.
Of course, there are differences between the two devices’ interfaces, but we’ll get there!
By and large, these two vapes offer a very similar weight, with a difference of about 5g between them, with the same shape and form factor. I’m fond of the XROS 4’s design, personally, and I like the way the body feels in my hand moreso than the Mini.
I don’t really have any qualms with the design of either vape; Vaporesso has a reputation for their impeccable vape kits. No cons here!

Interface & Features
The Vaporesso XROS 4 and XROS 4 Mini have different interfaces, though they share several features, including identical adjustable airflow toggles.
Airflow
I think the airflow adjustment toggle on the vapes in the Vaporesso XROS series is my favourite of all time. A sturdy switch allows you to minutely tailor from a loose RDTL draw to a tight MTL draw, with two holes side by side: a small hole and a larger hole. Moving the switch allows you to cover one hole, both holes, or even one and a half holes.
You can close the airflow valve completely for a super tight disposable-style draw, since there are additional airflow inlets on either side of the pod, though I’d only recommend doing this with the higher resistance pods available in the Vaporesso XROS series to avoid flooding your coils.
I usually keep the smaller hole uncovered—so, set roughly halfway—though with the 0.4Ω pods, which have slightly more airflow compared to the 0.8Ω pods, I sometimes cover half of the smaller hole for a tighter draw.
Now that I’ve raved about this airflow system, let’s get into each device’s interface.
Vaporesso XROS 4 Interface
The Vaporesso XROS 4 houses a small screen with a fire button, which allows you to tailor your wattage between 3 presets: low, medium, and high (though Vaporesso advertises it as strong, stronger, and strongest). Your current power settings are indicated by the little flame symbols on the screen. At high power, all 3 icons will be lit up.
The vape is both button and inhale activated, so you can vape by either pressing the button or simply inhaling on the mouthpiece.
One of the most handy things about this interface is that the button can be locked. Essentially, you can set your power level, lock the button, and never touch the settings again. That’s what I’ve done. I haven’t unlocked the button since I first set up the vape.
I absolutely love this unobtrusive interface: no puff counter or wattage settings, just 3 simple power modes and a pretty rainbow of colours as you vape. When you’ve finished a puff, the light will transition from its rainbow spectacle to glow either green, blue, or red, indicating your current battery level. It’ll also display the lock icon if you have the button locked.
The interface is really intuitive, and I definitely prefer it over the XROS 4 Mini, which offers no settings for vapers who like to tailor their wattage. Personally, I tend to vape all of my devices on their highest setting, so it’s nice to be able to do this with the XROS 4.
The screen is most definitely a fingerprint magnet, so if that’s something that bothers you, I would definitely bear that in mind before purchasing.
Vaporesso XROS 4 Mini Interface
The Vaporesso XROS 4 Mini doesn’t have a screen like the XROS 4 does. Instead, it has a metal plate in the middle of the device with an LED strip light which will glow either green, blue, or red while vaping to indicate your current battery level. The light will also flash these various colours when there’s an error, like a dead battery or an issue reading the pod.
There’s no buttons, so you only need to inhale on the mouthpiece to vape. Easy-peasy.
The XROS 4 Mini uses Smart Mode auto-coil detection to sense the resistance of your pod and set the wattage accordingly, so you never have to worry about power settings. Simply pop in a pod and vape.
This is a really simple, streamlined interface, and my only qualms with it are more related to design—the LED light is rather dim, especially when it’s blue or red (so, 2/3 of the time). It’s practically invisible in a daylight setting.
In addition, the metal plate housing the LED light has this shallow, ridged finish, which traps dust and gunk that simply cannot be cleaned off. Trust me—I’ve tried. I’ll spend a good 30 seconds polishing it, only for the gunk to reappear the moment my thumb touches it.

Battery Life & Performance
Both the Vaporesso XROS 4 and the XROS 4 Mini have a 1000mAh battery built into the device which cannot be removed. Both vapes offer LED indicator lights in red, blue, and green to signal the current battery level to the user. The signals are as follows:
- Green: 100% – 70% battery
- Blue: 70% – 30% battery
- Red: 30% – 0% battery
The devices differ in their charging. The XROS 4 offers 2A USB type-C fast-charging, allowing you to charge the device from 0% to full battery in 30 minutes, which is super handy. The XROS 4 Mini, on the other hand, offers 1A USB type-C charging, which is slower than 2A, so it takes about twice as long to charge.
With that being said, the battery is a pretty standard size and will last most vapers at least a day before requiring a recharge. For me, as a heavy vaper, I have to charge either device about twice a day if I’m using it as my all-day vape.
Performance-wise, both the XROS 4 and the Mini held their charge for the same amount of time, and neither one had any hiccups. The main difference between the two models is their charging speed—otherwise, they offer identical battery life, performance, and functionality with regard to their power output.
I would’ve loved to see an estimated time to full charge like we did with the Vaporesso XROS Pro, though with the XROS 4’s text-free screen, that wouldn’t necessarily have worked. Still, it’s my favourite feature on any XROS vape ever, and I hope to see it again on future models!

Vaporesso XROS Pods
Both vapes come with the all-new Vaporesso XROS V2 pod in the 0.4Ω (ohm) resistance. The XROS 4 comes with a spare pod as well—the 0.8Ω (ohm) pod from the original XROS pod series. The Mini only comes with 1 pod included.
The new XROS V2 pods are advertised as using Corex 2.0 coils, which are supposed to provide longer-lasting, more accurate flavour compared to their original Corex coils. The coils themselves are mesh, which means they have a greater surface area for heating the liquid compared to standard wire coils. As a result, mesh coils produce more vapour per puff.
I’ve always loved Vaporesso’s coils—they last ages compared to lesser ones, and they very rarely get to the point of tasting burnt, in my experience. I tend to notice the flavour starting to fade after about 10 to 14 days of heavy use with super sweet E-Liquids. I think it’d take much longer for the pod to start tasting burnt.
Still, I didn’t notice a huge difference between the original XROS pods and the XROS V2 pods I was supplied. The only major difference I noticed was that the V2 pods are taller, though they still only hold 2ml of E-Liquid (thanks, TPD).
In addition, I noticed that the clamshell mouthpiece is a bit flimsier on the V2 pods. As regular readers will know, I’m very clumsy and I drop my vapes constantly. The XROS usually holds up pretty well, though in my experience, the cap tends to pop off when you drop the vape, and sometimes, the pod itself will fall out.
I happened to drop the XROS 4, which had one of the V2 pods installed, and the mouthpiece actually cracked, rendering the entire pod unusable. That was a bummer, and it’s never happened any of the numerous times I’ve dropped my other XROS vapes. The pod is usually quite sturdy, but the mouthpiece on the V2 pods obviously can’t handle my level of stupidity.
I didn’t notice a huge difference in flavour between the V2 and the original XROS pods, though the 0.4Ω (ohm) resistance definitely has more airflow than XROS pods with lower resistances, like the 0.8Ω (ohm) pod included with the XROS 4.
As with all XROS vapes, you should only be pairing these pods with high-PG E-Liquids. This includes nic salts, freebase 10ml liquids, and 50/50 shortfills. I don’t recommend using any high-VG shortfills in this vape unless you like burnt coils and mouthfuls of hot E-Liquid.

Vaping the Vaporesso XROS 4 & XROS 4 Mini
For both the XROS 4 and the XROS 4 Mini, vaping is an absolute breeze. You don’t need to touch any settings unless you’re using the XROS 4 and you fancy a bigger cloud. Once you’ve got the XROS 4 settings where you want them, simply inhale on the mouthpiece to vape.
The Mini is even easier to use, with absolutely no buttons or settings. It’s very much like a disposable in that respect, both vapes make for excellent alternatives to disposable vapes if you’re looking for a refillable kit ahead of the upcoming disposable vape ban.
But to compare the flavour these kits make to a disposable vape would be an insult, frankly. The 0.4Ω pods in particular are incredibly flavourful and rich. You’ll get at least triple the cloud size with a XROS vape compared to a disposable vape.
I’ve encountered a grand total of zero faults with either device thus far, and I’ve been using them for roughly two weeks—plenty of time for errors to emerge.
I’ve absolutely loved using both of these, though the adjustable power on the XROS 4 is better for me. I think the XROS 4 will be my everyday vape for a long time.
Who should get the Vaporesso XROS 4/XROS 4 Mini?
The XROS 4 Mini is most certainly one of the best starter vape kits out there. It’s so easy to use that a monkey could figure it out. All you need to do is keep the pod full, keep the battery charged, and swap the pod out every two weeks and you’re golden.
The XROS 4 is an ideal choice for those who want a little more than what the Mini offers—and for RDTL vapers, the ability to adjust your power level makes all the difference between a weak, airy hit and a huge, dense cloud of vapour.
So, it will of course depend on your preferences, but I highly recommend this vape to just about any MTL vaper (that is, any vaper who’s not using low-nicotine E-Liquids in a big sub-ohm vape kit). Both the XROS 4 and the Mini have everything you need with very few bells and whistles—though, again, if you prefer bigger clouds, I’d personally opt for the XROS 4.
Vaporesso XROS 4 & XROS 4 Mini Accessibility
As always, I like to include a section about accessibility in all of my reviews given the sheer volume of smokers transitioning to vaping—many of whom are older and may have vision or dexterity issues keeping them from using refillable vape kits.
If you have a vision impairment or problems with dexterity, I would definitely recommend the XROS 4 Mini. The clamshell top-fill port is easy to snap off if you struggle with your grip, and it’s definitely more accessible than pods which utilise small silicone plugs for the E-Liquid fill port. The XROS pods allow for easy top filling by snapping off the mouthpiece. From there, there’s a vacuum-sealed hole for refilling.
Plus, with the XROS 4 Mini’s lack of buttons and settings, there really isn’t much else you need to do besides keep the pod topped up. Of course, for vapers with a visual impairment, it will be tricky to refill your pods and stay apprised of your battery level if you can’t see inside the pod or you can’t see the indicator light, but this is the case with essentially every other vape kit on the market.
I do this the XROS 4 Mini is one of the most accessible refillable kits on the market today.
The XROS 4 has similar upsides given that both vapes use the same pods, but the button and menu settings may be more difficult for vapers who need more accessible hardware, which is why I recommend the Mini over the XROS 4.
