Vaporesso XROS Pro Review: A XROS for the Pros!

The all-new Vaporesso XROS Pro brings adjustable wattage and 0.4Ω (ohm) pods to the Vaporesso XROS range, ideal for vapers seeking versatility and plenty of flavour. Let’s take a closer look at the device!

Fans of the Vaporesso XROS series will be familiar with the flawless top-fill pods, the generous battery capacity, the premium build quality, and the ease-of-use the series is known for. XROS vapes are typically beginner-friendly and built to last, making for an ideal starter vape kit for anyone new to vaping.

The new Vaporesso XROS Pro is an intermediate-level upgrade to previous XROS models, offering adjustable wattage and power settings along with some other nifty features, including a brand new 0.4Ω (ohm) pod resistance for big clouds and tons of flavour.

Our friends at Vaporesso were kind enough to send us a couple of kits to try, and we were blown away.

Let’s take a closer look at the Vaporesso XROS Pro!

Vaporesso XROS Pro Overview

The Vaporesso XROS Pro shares a lot of features with the rest of the XROS series: a sturdy, premium build, clamshell top-fill pods with built-in mesh coils, and the excellent flavour production that Vaporesso vape kits are known for.

But the XROS Pro takes the series to new heights with adjustable wattage and power modes on the series’ first-ever screen, offering more versatility and customisation.

The XROS Pro also comes included with two of the new 0.4Ω (ohm) pods, which have been created exclusively for this higher-powered device. Other XROS vapes don’t output enough wattage to be compatible.

These pods offer more flavour and vapour per puff, fired at a higher wattage than other XROS pods are. 

I was so excited to get to try this vape. I could go on and on—so, without further ado, let’s dive in!

Design & Appearance

I received the green finish, which has a dark, forest green colour that eerily matches the colour of my first car: a 2006 Chevy Uplander. 

The vape is a little odd looking. It looks a bit pregnant from the front. If you lay it on its back, it looks like a train or something. Overall, though, I’m a big fan of the design of this vape despite the shape being a little strange. 

It’s incredibly sturdy and feels very solid and durable in the hand, though when I’ve dropped it on my hardwood floor at home, the pod usually pops open and scatters across the floor. It feels incredibly durable, though the pod sits pretty precariously and can pop out easily if you’re not careful.

The flipside to this is that you can see the whole pod at all times and that your E-Liquid level is always perfectly visible, which is great.

On the back of the device, you’ll find the adjustable airflow toggle with the Vaporesso icon etched into the body at the bottom. The bottom of the device houses the USB-C port, which is where you’ll charge the device, along with the battery information. 

Overall, while the shape is a bit odd, the XROS Pro is really sturdy and has a nice, premium heft to it in the hand. It’s quite a fingerprint magnet, though I know only some people tend to care about this, so it’s a very minor con.

In addition, the XROS Pro is quite heavy at 86g, but I quite like the feel of it in my hands. Some people might consider this a con. 

Interface & Features

The XROS Pro features a nifty little screen for adjusting wattage and keeping an eye on your battery level and puff count—the first-ever screen on a Vaporesso XROS vape. 

The vape can be fired either using the button or via inhale activation, which allows you to vape by simply inhaling on the mouthpiece.

The interface offers another unique feature: a slide-lock switch allowing you to lock the button completely. With the interface locked, you can still vape via inhale activation, but you don’t have to worry about the vape accidentally firing in your pocket or handbag.

XROS Pro Screen

The XROS Pro has a handy little menu screen that helps keep you apprised of your current wattage, battery level, and your puff count, which can be cleared by pressing the button 4 times when the button is unlocked. You’ll have to press the button again to navigate to “yes,” then wait for it to clear the puff counter.

You can adjust the wattage or power mode by pressing the button 3 times with the button unlocked (more on this next).

You can also power the device on or off by pressing the button 5 times quickly and turn the light on or off by pressing the button twice.

Overall, the menu may be a bit fiddy and difficult to navigate for some users, though to be honest, I haven’t really touched the wattage or settings since I first started using the vape. The wattage it’s automatically set to with the 0.4Ω pod is perfect. 

You can very easily use the XROS Pro without ever even touching the menu settings, making it both user-friendly and customisable.

Adjustable Wattage & Power Modes

When using one of the included 0.4Ω pods, you can adjust the wattage by pressing the button 3 times with the button unlocked, which will then allow you to increase the wattage in 0.5W increments. It will “round robin” at 30W and start back at 15W.

With any other pod resistance, the vape will allow you to swap between power modes, including “power” for bigger clouds, “normal” for standard output, and “eco” for a lower-wattage puff that will help conserve battery life.

I don’t love that the wattage is only adjustable with the 0.4Ω pods. These pods cost slightly more compared to the other XROS pod resistances, and if I were to get replacement pods for this vape, I would probably opt for a pack of 0.6Ω pods instead—which will mean sacrificing adjustable wattage for the various power modes. It feels like a downgrade.

I’m curious as to why the 0.4Ω pods warrant adjustable wattage while the other resistances don’t. Maybe it’s just me—maybe other vapers will prefer the variable power modes as opposed to the fine-tuned wattage adjustments. 

Battery Life & Performance

The XROS Pro houses a 1200mAh built-in battery, which is uniquely measured in 1% increments on the small screen. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a pod vape like this with such minute battery capacity readings.

The vape came 64% charged, which is pretty standard out of the box.

The 1200mAh capacity is a little overstated, in my opinion—though the 0.4Ω (ohm) pods consume more battery than any higher resistance pods would. This battery on the XROS Pro lasts roughly as long as my 1000mAh Xlim Pro with a 0.6Ω (ohm) pod, which is about a day of heavy/frequent vaping.

All in all, I’m quite happy with the battery capacity, though I did expect it to last a little longer than it did. Still, standard vapers will likely get at least a day and a half to two days out of the battery, which is great.

XROS Pro Charging

True to its promise, the vape recharges incredibly quickly. I really can’t slight the charging on the XROS Pro.

Vaporesso XROS Pro 0.4Ω Pods

The Vaporesso XROS Pro comes with Vaporesso’s brand new 0.4Ω (ohm) pods, which have a lower coil resistance than any XROS pods currently available. 

In layman’s terms, this essentially means that the 0.4Ω pods provide more flavour and vapour, since they can be fired at a higher wattage and can vaporise your juice much quicker. Plus, the XROS pods’ integrated mesh coils have more surface area than standard wire coils, which allows more E-Liquid to be vaporised per puff.

The downside to these pods is that they tend to consume more E-Liquid and battery life overall. I found that even when using the vape sporadically, I was still refilling the pod fairly often. And as I’ve already mentioned, it means that the battery life isn’t as great as expected.

Still, the taste from these pods is stellar—big clouds and tons of flavour. I honestly have no notes on the flavour production.

And, as with all XROS pods, the refill mechanism is really excellent. I think this is where the Vaporesso XROS series really shines: the clamshell top-fill port. Simply snap the mouthpiece off and refill via the red fill port. Snap the mouthpiece back on to close it.

The coils are very long-lasting, too. This isn’t my first XROS vape—I’ve also had the pleasure of using the XROS 3 Nano—but I’m still surprised at how long these pods last. 

I’d say they’re pretty comparable to the OXVA Xlim pods. I’m currently on my second week of using the first pod that came with the vape and the flavour is still going strong.

Vaping the Vaporesso XROS Pro

Once you’ve got your settings where you want them to be, vaping the Vaporesso XROS Pro is easy-breezy. You don’t even need to touch the menu if you’re not fussed, since the vape automatically sets the wattage for you based on the pod you’re using. Simply pop in a freshly primed pod and vape.

With the button locked, you can use the handy inhale activation feature by simply inhaling on the mouthpiece to vape. You can also use the button to fire the vape when it’s unlocked, allowing you to preheat the coil before a puff.

I’ve experienced no faults or flaws in using the vape so far—not even so much as a “no atomiser” error. It’s been completely seamless from start to finish.

Who should get the XROS Pro?

The Vaporesso XROS Pro is ideal for vapers looking to customise their vape experience and for those seeking something sturdy and durable to carry with them on a daily basis. 

It’s a really excellent little MTL and RDTL kit for any experience level given that using the screen isn’t wholly necessary—though vapers looking to play with power settings should have at least an intermediate level of vaping knowledge. 

The only vapers I wouldn’t recommend this to would be sub-ohm vapers, as this isn’t a sub-ohm vape. Otherwise, I think anyone from a complete novice to a seasoned veteran would absolutely love this device. 

If you want something premium with a bit of weight to it in your hand, the XROS Pro is the one to beat.

Vaporesso XROS Pro Accessibility

The XROS Pro is really simple to operate even without the screen, so I wouldn’t say that this vape is particularly difficult for those with a visual impairment. It’s very easy to keep an eye on your E-Liquid levels, and as long as you can make out the colour of the LED light, you can keep an eye on your battery level.

As for those with dexterity issues, the vape is fairly easy to refill with the clamshell top-fill mechanism, and the button is quite large and easy to use. As always, it may be difficult for people who have dexterity problems to refill the pod using small 10ml bottles, but this is a TPD issue and not related to the device.

Plus, the vape can be used without any buttons, making it handy for people with conditions like arthritis that may make it difficult to use smaller buttons. These vapers may have some issues altering the airflow switch, but once this has been set to your liking, you won’t really have to touch it again.

All in all, I think this is an accidentally accessible vape for a majority of people. If you have mild dexterity or vision problems, I can’t see you having much difficulty with this vape, though you likely won’t get to experience the adjustable wattage to its fullest extent.

I’ve absolutely loved my time with the Vaporesso XROS Pro and have had a lot of trouble coming up with cons for the device. It’s sturdy, weighty, and feels like a dream, though the shape is a bit odd and I had a few qualms with the interface.
